Celebrex should be taken with food at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking aspirin or other anti-inflammatory medicines. Taking aspirin with food may reduce the time it takes to metabolize some of the other medicines that cause an increase in plasma levels of some anti-inflammatory medicines. Speak to a pharmacist or doctor for advice if you are unsure which medicine or medicines to take.
Celebrex can be taken with or without food. But take into account the potential for side effects. If you take more than what is recommended, your doctor may need to adjust your dose.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about the best way to take Celebrex. They may advise you to take Celebrex with food to reduce stomach discomfort. If you have stomach problems, talk to your doctor.
If you take a medicine that is taken by mouth that contains a medicine called indomethacin, take with it. It is important not to take this medicine with a high-fat meal as this may delay the effects of this medicine.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about any prescription or over-the-counter medicines you take, including vitamins and herbal medicines. These may affect Celebrex and you should check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking Celebrex with any medicine for pain or inflammation. Taking Celebrex with a prescription medicine may increase the chance of side effects. Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines for your pain or inflammation, including anti-inflammatory medicines and corticosteroids.
If you are taking any of the medicines listed above, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Celebrex, the brand name for the brand-name prescription drug Celebrex, is a prescription medicine approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat certain types of arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.
In February 2020, the FDA announced the approval of Celebrex (brand name: Celecoxib), an oral, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that belongs to a class of medications called COX-2 selective inhibitors.
The drug is indicated for the alleviation of pain, inflammation, and swelling associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other inflammatory conditions.
The FDA recommends the use of Celebrex in patients with ankylosing spondylitis, where the arthritis is associated with inadequate production of natural substances, such as cartilage, bone, and muscle.
The drug also has been approved to reduce pain, swelling, and stiffness associated with rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.
Celebrex is available in capsules of 200 milligrams (mg), which is the maximum daily dose for adults.
The maximum daily dose of Celebrex is 100 mg.
It is taken once per day.
The drug has not been approved for use in children over 8 years old.
Celebrex is not indicated for use in pregnant women, unless the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
The FDA advises caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal problems, such as ulcers, bleeding, or perforation.
The drug is not intended for use in children.
The FDA has warned that the risk of serious gastrointestinal side effects associated with Celebrex is greater in the elderly.
A meta-analysis published in theJournal of the American College of Rheumatologyshowed that the risk of death in patients with rheumatoid arthritis who were prescribed NSAIDs for more than 2 years had increased by 15% from 8% in 1997 to 26% in 2018.
The study concluded that patients with a history of gastrointestinal problems, such as bleeding or perforation, should be carefully monitored.
The study’s authors concluded that Celebrex is “a potential treatment option for individuals with a history of gastrointestinal problems,” including ulcers, bleeding, or perforation.
The FDA’s review of studies of the drug in adults found no link between the use of Celebrex and the development of a heart-related condition, such as myocardial infarction, or the development of a stroke.
The FDA has also noted that studies have been conducted on the safety and efficacy of the drug in patients with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
The FDA recommends the use of celecoxib and other NSAIDs for the treatment of pain and inflammation associated with rheumatoid arthritis, as well as for the treatment of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis in adults.
